CARBONES Y SEPIOLITAS S.L. (CARYSE) wishes to express through this document its commitment to PEFC certification PEFC/14-35-00572, by putting in place all the necessary measures to implement and maintain its chain of custody systems and to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
In this way, we support responsible forest management so that the social, economic, ecological, cultural and spiritual needs of present and future generations can be met.
In line with the requirements of the applicable standards regarding controversial materials, CARBONES Y SEPIOLITAS S.L. (CARYSE) undertakes to control the origin of the wood used in the manufacture of its wood pellets, wood briquettes, firewood, kindling, charcoal briquettes, charcoal and other related products used in its production process, in order to exclude any material originating from the following sources:
- Conflict timber.
- Areas where illegal logging or illegal trade in timber or forest products takes place.
- Areas where human or traditional rights are violated in forestry operations, including rights covered by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (2007).
- Areas where forestry operations result in the destruction of high conservation values or ecologically important areas.
- Areas where forestry activity does not contribute to the maintenance or conservation of biodiversity at landscape, ecosystem, species or genetic level.
- Areas where harvesting or production activities do not respect, or are not carried out at, a sustainable long-term rate.
- Areas where forests are significantly converted into plantations or non-forest uses.
- Areas where genetically modified organisms are introduced in forestry operations.
- Areas where the core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), as defined in the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (1998), are violated.
Based on this commitment, if CARBONES Y SEPIOLITAS S.L. (CARYSE) becomes aware, or receives substantiated objections, that the forest- or tree-based materials or products it is using may originate from illegal sources, such materials will not be marketed until the suspicion has been resolved, even if those materials fall outside the scope of the Chain of Custody system.
In addition, in order to support the verification of operations carried out by our certification body, Management undertakes to provide samples of FSC transaction data whenever requested by the certification body.
Likewise, in order to ensure appropriate occupational health and safety conditions, the company guarantees that:
- It does not prevent its employees from freely associating, choosing their representatives, or engaging in collective bargaining with the company.
- Forced labour does not take place at its facilities.
- It does not employ workers below the minimum legal working age established in Spain.
- It does not hinder equal opportunities or equal treatment for employees.
- Working conditions do not endanger the safety or health of its employees.
Management expects and wishes to collaborate actively towards the ultimate goal of ensuring that the world’s forests are managed responsibly and that their many functions are protected for present and future generations.
